Statement of intent

My statement of intent:  For my pop music video, I am using the song "watch" by Billie Eilish. I am planning too emulate the sound of the song through a heart break based music video, whilst still relating to the 16-16 class AB demographic, and to produce a music video that ultimately advertises the song and the artist as enjoyable and meaningful to listen to. I plan to target this demographic through uses relatable atmosphere. I have decided to include the artist in the music video. Although the artist is still in the music video I am creating a narrative based music video. By putting the artist into the video I feel as though my target audience can get a real connection with the artist as it shows that they go through heart break as well. The narrative I am writing is two teenagers/ young adults who experience heart break, however, the boy get s through it a lot better than the girl does. The lighting I will be ...

Mood Board

I will have three different locations. the first location will be in a home where the female protagonist will be and I will have two different setting in in house. One being the bath and the second one being the bedroom. The second location will be at reading festival and possibly the beach, where the male protagonist will be with another girl and this will be seen in many long shot. Finally the last location will be in the woods or a forest which will give the music video a gothic feel to it as it will be a slight dark feel to it.

Logo for my artist

Image
My artists logo/brand icon:  I have decided that my artists name will be Novia.  I want to use one name as it snappy and not too long, so the audience will remember it and not get to lost in the name of the artist. When is comes to my artists logo/brand icon I was inspired by three different brand icons, Drake's song "nice for what" and Kodak Black's song "Codeine Dreaming" and also XXXTENTACION's song "Moonlight". The reason why I am inspired by these songs is because I like how it is presented. I also like the bold font where it is clear to see as it will only be shown in the music video either at the beginning of the video or in the corner. So for my brand icon I wanted to have a bold text, however, make the font a outline font so that when it is in the music video it isn't covering up the view of the video.

My perfect audience member

Image
My Ideal Audience Member: What my ideal audience members age, gender and look: My music is aimed to 16-25 year olds, which fits perfectly with the pop genre. As pop music targets 13-26 year olds. However, the song that will be in my music video has so more mature meaning to it, 13 year olds may not understand the context which will not appeal to them. My music targets more of a female audience as the song is about heart break and the end of a relationship from a female perspective, however, i am not closing of the male audience to listen to my music as they may be going through the same feelings due to a heartbreak. Although, my music is targeted to wide range of the female audience, I am also targeting a more specific groups of females.  One group which fits my ideal a udience member is defined as "Rah"  The Rah stereotype is all about being well connected and well schooled – living the high life at society events and wearing only herita...

Key elements of a pop music video

Image
Key elements that need to be in my music video: 1) Symbolic Techniques: Showing meanings beyond what you can see - facial expressions - gestures - poses - mis en scene. 2) Conventions:  - The Style - The Camera - The Editing Techniques - The Sound (non diegetic and diegetic) - Mis en Scene  –  props, lighting, costume  – hair and makeup, location/setting, and colours.  - Notions o f looking - stereotyping 3) Performative: Focuses on the artist or band just plainly performing either on their own or in front of a crowd This is popular amongst rock artists videos and are often seen in pop style music videos. 4) Narrative Follows a story line. There are two types of narrative:  linear and fragmented . A linear narrative follows the standard storyline structure: beginning, middle, end. A fragmented narrative is one that doesn't BUT depicts the lyrics from the song. 5) Animated: These videos use fast movement s...

Sony artists research

I have researched which Sony artist have been able to get their singles Gold or Platinum in the last 3 months.

compare 2 music videos.

Image
Robbery by Juice Wrld & Bad Blood by Taylor Swift  Both artists show the song name at the beginning of their music video. Taylor Swift is using her performative element whilst the audience are reading the song title, however, Juice Wrld doesn't he covers half the title with his own body whilst he moves his face up and down, with no performative element. Both of the song title come in after the first 10 seconds of the song starting, giving a reason for the audience to carry on watching the song especially the new audience who don't know the artist or the song title. Both artists have a performative element to their music video. At the beginning of the music video to show their performative element, as they do a close up shot. This connects the artist with their fans as they look at the camera if makes the audience feel like they are singing/talking to them. In Juice Wrld's music video one of the scene is set in a wedding. The director uses the same techni...

Copyright email

Email to the owners of the copyright of "Watch" Dear Sir, or Madam I am writing to you in regards of the copywriter of the song "Watch" by Billie Eilish. Reason being I wanted to possibly use the song for my A level media coursework. I am a sixth form student at the Weald of Kent, taking media as an A level. Within the course we are currently studying music videos, furthermore, our course work is to create a three minute video within the POP genre. Therefore, I decided I wanted to choice "Watch" as my song to create to perfect video which ties in with production company and record label I have created. To use this track in my video, I will need permission from Finneas O'Connell. My video will not be viewable to the public, as it will be posted on a private Youtube account for only the OCR exam board and my teachers to watch. It would be extremely grateful if you would give me access to use Billie Eilish's song for my Coursework. Kind re...

My Track

My Track: The song I have chosen is Watch by Billie Eilish. The reason why i wanted to use this song for my coursework is because I think the artist and the genre of music is very relevant at the moment of time. I feel as though I could interoperate this song however I wanted. As it starts off slow then it increases its speed, the song starts to get a deeper tempo, but the artist has a higher pitch voice. Through the different pitched vocals, and the repetitive beats I feel that I could really show the emotion of the song in my video. "Watch" has a repetitive chorus, however, it gets more upbeat every time it is sung. The style of music that Billie produces is different to most songs within the POP genre, never the less, this more mysterious and unique style of POP is becoming extremely popular to teenage target audiences. As "Watch" is one of Billie Eilish's more upbeat songs, one of the big reasons it is so loved by her fans is because it is described as ...
